Hi All,
IMHO, the best way to collect milk for moms with huge nipples is hand-expression. If they "don't want" to learn, there may be a bigger problem here than just nipple size. I worked with a client who was a large-animal veternarian and had nipples the size of my big toe (no joke) and just about the same texture. Her baby just couldn't get his mouth around them until he was 8-9 months old. She worked out of her truck all day in the fields with horses and cows, and found hand-expression + cupfeeding much cleaner and safer than other feeding methods until her baby could nurse at breast directly. He continued nursing till he was well over two, then I lost touch with them.
My shirt of the day is "Empowering Eomen" from North, Inc. (Philadelphia) with its kinda swirly abstract design of a mom and baby. Yesterday I wore "Everything I needed to know in life I learned by breastfeeding."
