That bizarre description of positioning sounds suspiciously like the
transition/preemie hold gone awry. Holding baby from the back of the neck
like a football hold across the lap is a great position, but *not* with
the arm sticking out like a chicken wing, and *not* bending over, and
*not* trying to force the breast into the baby's mouth! A pillow in mom's
lap for support is meant to help her bring baby to breast level so that
she can bring baby *to the breast*, and not vice versa. Either all of
these mothers misunderstood quite badly, or these "LC's" don't
understand the position and are teaching everyone the wrong thing. I
question their right to be called LC's if they would leave a mother so
obviously uncomfortable!
