I have to say that I think the blame of migraines stemming from prolactin
is barking up the wrong tree. If migraines begin immediately postpartum,
then the likelihood is as much that they are estrogen withdrawal headaches.
Many women get these during their "off" days from OCs/BCPs and many
perimenopausal women get them. There are ways to test this theory.
Instead of heading straight for Estrace, I'd suggest trying an herb combo
of wild yam and chaste tree/vitex. Some of you have seen my posts on how
these help vaginal and skin dryness, and I've seen it eliminate the
migraines too. A few moms have taken it upon themselves to use DHEA, which
is a precursor to both progesterone and estrogen. I'm not necessarily
condoning this, but they report that it works.
