I am posting this for Margo Mann who has cable, but no time today. She tells
me that this morning NY1 News ran a peice about declining infant mortality
rates in NYC, good news of course, and the images running with the peice are
of babies being bottlefed (!) Margo called the station and spoke to the
producer re; her concerns. This producer's name is Bernadette Han and she can
be reached at 1-212-691-6397. Margo said it took a long time for anyone to
answer the phone. She said that these news spots run for a while and if
enough people call in perhaps they will change the bottlefeeding image. Of
course Margo is concerned that the public will assume that fewer babies are
dying because bottlefeeding is so healthful, and this may also encourage moms
who are struggling with BF to succumb to bad advice about switching over to
the option which leads to healthy babies -bottlefeeding a la this report. I
hope many Lactnetters can call in. The good news that infant mortality is
declining cannot be linked with bottlefeeding! Margo can be beeped @
1-917-773-9105 for further clarification on this report, and her response to
it.
