For the last month I have been having lunch with a nurse from case management in
my office. I eat, she pumps with a double electric pump, and we chat. We have
noticed something very interesting. On the days when she eats a light
breakfast, cereal or a piece of toast, she will get about 5 ounces of milk when
she pumps for ten minutes. On the days when she has a heartier breakfast, with
eggs and milk and juice and maybe some bread, she gets 9 ounces of milk. It has
been very consistent. This is just one case of course, but may be something to
suggest to the mother who feels her milk supply is dropping . I wouldn't have
thought it would have made such a difference.
