My experience is limited to about 5 cases in 8 years. All the babies were on ABM, and all had poor wt inc. and growth by 3-6 months. The combination of digoxin and the poor heart seems to burn more calories than the baby is able to consume. Several babies were put on 24cal/oz and the weight barely increased differently from those kept on reg. ABM. It all changes after they have surgery. Certainly is a difficult situation, but breastfeeding more would be easier to accomplish than forcing bottles. Sure would like to know the outcome of this case. [log in to unmask]
