Susan and other lactnetters,
I'm sure there are more current references but a little booklet
that I often refer to is:
"Breastfeeding: A neglected household-level weaning-food resource" by
Janet Bradley, Sandy Baldwin and Helen Armstrong, an IBFAN Africa
publication.
It has many references, one of which is:
Le Page P., Munyakazi C., Hennart P. 1981. Breastfeeding and
hospital mortality in children in Rwanda. Lancet, August 1981,
409-410.
IBFAN (International Baby Food Action Network) Africa is now based in
Swaziland: PO Box 781, Mbabane, SWAZILAND. (In Helen Armstrong's
African time it was based in Nairobi, Kenya).
Regards, Lynn.
