In Ruth Lawrence's Breastfeeding A guide for the medical profession, she
says in a section on surgical admission, where she is discussing breastfeeding,
"When bone healing is important, attention should be given to the dietary
demands of bone healing and lactation, especially in calcium, phosphorus
and vitamin intakes". (p.522) She does not say no breastfeeding! While I
agree with Dr. Jack that the plastic surgeon should be the one challenged
to provide references for his amazing statements, perhaps the above
information might be helpful in showing that weaning is not necessary.

Best wishes
