>I got a call today from the mother of a 14 month old. She told me that
when her baby was 4 months old, the pediatrician told her it was time to
start solids and cut back on breastfeeding. Why? So the baby would
learn to SPEAK sooner!!

Hmmmm....another new and interesting idea. When Alex was 23 months old he
stops nursing for a minute while lying in bed with me, late one night in
July, and announced "I want my daddy to take me to a football game." Never
mind that it was July, late at night, and that he had no idea what a
football game was! Maybe if I hadn't nursed him so long he would have said
that when he was 6 months old???
