Robin, I have seen this behavior in a 3 month old. Baby fed every 1-1/2 hour
and would tire toward the end of feeding and begin hurting the nipples,
followed by ending the feeding.  After clipping (and this was a border-line
short one) baby fed more deeply than he had ever done and after a day or so
he began going 3 or more hours between feeds and was much more satisfied.
