Dear Fran:
I do have an article (unpublished, if I remember correctly, and at least 7
years old) about using an electric breast pump to induce labor. If you give
me a fax number, I can fax it to you.
My understanding is that it works at least as well as pitocin (surprise,
surprise), BUT cannot be tapered up and down like a pit drip can.
My midwife did use it during my second labor. Actually, I used it at
her suggestion. It certainly worked. The problem was that once it started
to work, it was hard to keep doing it. It felt like self-inflicting pain.
But yes, it worked.
Happy BIRTH day! :D
