Jay, and all
Jay is right about Lyme disease. According to the new BF Answer Book,
p.464, "there is no evidence it can be transmitted by BF" "According to the
CDC(1992) if a nursing mother is suspected of being infected with Lyme
Disease, she should be treated with an appropriate antibiotic, her baby
should be observed for signs of infection, and his blood tested for evidence
of infection if illness develops." There is no mention of weaning.
The "yea after 24 hours" of treatment was a direct quote from Dr.
Lawrence. My goal was to provide some quotes from her during the
videoconference, not to say that I agreed with her. There were a few other
things she said which I did not agree with either, such. as that every
newborn should be having at least 3 stools a day from birth...Sorry for any
confusion about Lyme Disease. Judy fram, Brooklyn, NY
