A mother called me long distance with something I haven't dealt with
before....one breast works just fine and the other one is, 2 weeks pp,
still painfully engorged. I suggested she pump it for all she could just
once, and then put the baby on to finish the job; nurse regularly and
often and use cabbage leaves between feedings. If she became
uncomfortable again, to pump just till comfortable then nurse.
Y'all....she pumped *12* ounces of milk from this one breast!!! And
three days later, she feels like she could again. Followed suggestions
to the letter and is right back where she started. Pumping for comfort
is only comfortable for a short while (hour or so) and then it hurts
again...
Could there be a medical reason for this? Just on one side baffles
me.....no trauma, or any discernable reason this breast differs so from
it's well-behaved partner.
