I tell the parents to purposefully do an evaluation on day 3-4 and look for
these signs:
breasts full or getting full
feeding 8x or more in 24 hrs
baby swallowing
6-8 voids
3 or 4 or more BMs
(also no pain, baby content) - but the above is very objective.

If these are present - things should be okay, but call if questions or
concerns.
If ANY are not present, call and we will review.  Sometimes over the phone we
can adjust, or maybe they need to be seen.  I stress that we can fix most
things early but if parents wait til 2 wk or even a 3 wk checkup, it is much
harder to correct.
