Hi Fiona, etc.
Many thanks for all your advice. My client with the 1500 ml PPH and
Retained Placenta/Inverted uterus is plodding along. Her baby is now
making lots of good effort at the breast. We are using the SNS only
after about 15 minites at the breast. In the SNS we are using EBM
and formula to make it up to about 60 mls. This way the baby is
stimulating the breasts, having the opportunity to get hungry, but
not been starved. Mum unable to express more than 15 mls with an
electric pump. But continuing to express 4 hourly. Mum also now
very depressed, as is her partner as the complications at delivery
have just been realized by her. This is of course inhibiting her
letdown. She is a marvel really, so enthusiastic about feeding and
will do anything to keep going. I started her on Fenugreek today,
but have to admit that I have never used it before so had to search
the archives for how much to give. I suggested 3 tablets TDS. Is
this what all of you who use it do? Is Fenugreek preferable to use
than Maxallon (metaclopromide)? If she produces lots of milk with
the Fenugreek, must she continue to take it?
