Okay, I think I have this figured out now. To recap, I was contacted
as an AAPL by another Leader to research this medication prescribed to a
nursing mother for muscle spasm. The drug name was spelled out to me as
FLEXORIL with an "O". I searched the Lactnet archives, etc with that
spelling and came up with nothing. I tried a web search with that
spelling and found a site that described FLEXORIL (with the "O") as
this...

"Flexoril provides a well-balanced combination of vitamins and minerals
in a base of other natural factors. These nutrients must be present in
the diet for collagen functions.

A lifetime of continually using our joints greatly affects the integrity
of collagen, the supporting structure in tendons, cartilage, and
connective tissues. Proper joint function depends on the body's ability
to produce and maintain strong, healthy collagen structures. This
becomes increasingly important with age."

Come to find out, thanks to Lactnetters, there is a drug called FLEXERIL
(with an "E"), generic Cyclobenzaprine, which is a muscle relaxant. I
suspect this is what the mother was actually prescribed.

So, I guess, this herbal/vitamin stuff is designed for a different, yet
somewhat similar, purpose. Very tricky for them to have an almost
identical name as a muscle relaxant. Very dangerous also, in my
opinion.

A lesson learned on my part to be extra careful regarding the spelling
of all drug/herbal names.

Kathy
