It has come to my attention that there are several people on Lactnet
currently, who are not bf professionals, and are on Lactnet to get personal
help for their own bf situations. You know who you are..and if you want to
stay and *lurk* that is fine with me...stay, ...learn and listen. However,
please do not privately e-mail any of the other subscribers on Lactnet for
professional lactation assistance. THis is not what Lactnet is for.
Professinoals who join Lactnet wish to read and glean information for
themselves...and are not *on*...ie they aren't working, and they should not
have to *work* just because someone sees their name and asks them for
help...privately. If you need an LC, contact ILCA and get a listing of
names of LCs in your area.
If you would like to find an IBCLC (Board Certified Lactation Consultant)
in your area to assist you...you may contact the ILCA (International
Lactation Consultant Association) office and you will be referred to three
IBCLC's in your area. You can reach ILCA at 200 N. Michigan Ave, Suite 300,
Chicago IL 60601; phone 312-541-1710 or fax 312-541-1271. ILCA can be
reached at [log in to unmask]
It is also an imposition to ask Lactnetters for help...as they do this
professionally, and they get paid for it. You are doing *them* a
disservice, as well as yourself. LC work is best done in person...and you
will get the best advice and professional assistance by working with an LC
in person in your area. This is kind of like being at a party, and then
asking a doctor or lawyer attending that party for professional advice,
whipping out a long description of your incredibly sore rotator cuff, or
latest legal battle.... People then *****yawn****, and make an excuse to
use the bathroom.....
Thank you. This is a repetition of info that is already in the welcome note.
