Ruthy
When I was in Thailand the major university teaching hospital in
Bangkok had all the babies bedding in. The reason? They told me
that they still had a problem with jaundice when the babies were rooming-in
in their cots, but once they got the babies bedding-in the problem
resolved. I don't have any data on jaundice rates, but it was an
interesting practice that was followed in many hospitals in Thailand.
I mentioned it in my editorial "The Three Sucklings" which was
published in Breastfeeding Review in May 1996 and reprited in MIDIRS
Midwifery Digerst (Mar 1997) 7:1 p99.
