Hello lactnetters, I haven't posted in a long time. I'm an LLLL and LC
in private practice in WV and OH. Just recovering from the flood. No
damage at our house but feel so bad for so many. Saw the post from Lisa
about a more mechanical pump for pumping firmer breasts. I think she is
refering to the White River Pump. It has a flexible shield that
massages the breast as it pumps. I don't have an address but they can
be rented or purchased. Some home medical places have them. I've never
seen one or used one but have heard they do a decent job. My practice
is very small and I have not run into any problems with moms not being
able to pump effectively due to breast shape, etc. I had a case once
that the baby wasn't gaining that I felt was due to sinuses placed back
from the nipple. Mom was a tall woman. She was able to pump though.
That's why I love to read lactnet. Always something new to watch for.
Keep it up! Thanks.
