Can anyone supply me with references supporting the calming effect of
prolactin?
A local parenting magazine published in its "questions for experts"
section a letter from a mother of a one week old baby who states she is
the nervous type, and asks if she should "continue" to breastfeed. The
"expert" (a dietician) answered her that if she continues breastfeeding
the baby will be agitated and fussy, and will be likely to develop
allergies.
I'm writing a letter to the editor in response, and have plenty of
references about allergies and the benefits of breastfeeding, but I
can't find anything to support the calming effect of prolactin.
TIA
