I discovered that I have a neighbor who has taken the Ezzo course for
toddlers and older, not Preparation for Parenting which includes the
newborns. She is a lovely, intelligent person who demand fed all her
children. I asked her if I could talk with the teacher of the course to
get her thoughts on how I might be able to work with a mother whose baby
wasn't gaining weight. The teacher doesn't want to talk with me. I was
told she has been teaching this for many years and no longer wants to do
"battle" anymore about it. I am going to try again to assure her I
don't want to do "battle", I just want help. I agree with another post
I read: the mother is coming to me for help with breastfeeding, not her
parenting style. Although the two overlap, we are always saying that
breastfeeding is a health choice, not a life style choice. If the mother
comes to me as a LLLL, that's different, that is a parenting style. The
neighbor offered that grace and context are very important to the
Ezzo's. She gave me the 800- phone number to order the tapes so that I
can talk from a basis of knowledge rather than conjecture. I will look
for the tapes in the public library. I REALLY don't want to give any
Ezzo's money.
