Yesterday evening I had the privilege of hearing Dr. Jane Goodall (of Gombe
reserve for Chimps in Tanzania fame) speak about her experiences with
chimps and what she has learned from them. She touched on the
maternal-infant behaviors she observed as well, tho that was not her
primary focus. Then I had an opportunity at a private reception to meet
her. A colleague and I are currently brain-storming about involving her in
a special conference aimed at LCs. Problem: her lecture fee is in the five
figures.
What WE want to know is how many of you would be interested in attending a
conference where she is featured? (We are working on having it in the
Seattle area in 2-3 years in order to get the needed sponsorships in line;
we have to work with some others with whom the Goodall Foundation has
contacts, etc.)
Please email me privately re: your interest in such a possibility.
Obviously, the rest of the conference would be geared to LCs, as well, with
excellent speakers and particularly NW activities, including a boat trip
into Puget Sound to Blake Island to eat cedar-smoked salmon dinner, etc.
