I can't remember who posted about the people following the Ezzo program that
said they should be encouraged to pray and listen for the Lord's leading on
how they should feed/care for their babies, (which I agree is exactly right)
but I did want to make a point here (nothing is as it seems it should be in
this program):

The program is very specific in teaching that IT is GOD'S WAY for feeding
babies -- (who needs to pray when you have it spelled out in black & white??)
The mothers are explicitly trained NOT to listen to that inner voice -- or
they can listen to the Lord and watch for the context, but ONLY within the
confines of the program. If the mother feels differently than the program
dictates, it is an indication of her irrationality, and her husband is to
step in and correct her. Remember that the Ezzos believe that there is no
such thing as maternal instinct -- that is animalistic, and we are far above
animals. We have no instincts; we are rational humans and that one of the
"beauties" of the program is the mothers are taught to respond to their
babies in a rational manner, not because of their emotions.

It is interesting to note that the "context" in which parents are told it is
OK to move the schedule up or down a half hour is based primarily on how it
affects other adults -- i.e. if you are in an airplane, and the baby is
crying, it is OK to feed him a half hour early, because keeping him on
schedule might entail listening to him crying, and that it is not appropriate
for the other adults on the plane to have to listen to him. (Never mind that
we think it is not appropriate for the baby to have to wait to EAT!!). Or,
another "context" is the church nursery -- you can't expect the nursery
workers to stick to the schedule when there are so many babies in the church
nursery. Other than that -- stick to the schedule through rational thinking
at all costs.
