Dr. Jack,
This horse "ain't dead". Our NICU prides itself in having "changed its ways"
already, with regards to turning lights off for "naptime" and at night,
providing lots of "cuddletime" by having unlimited visitation for mom, dad,
grandparents, & even aunts/uncles, as well as staffing so nurses can cuddle
babies while caring for them. However, the use of artificial nipples is
rampant, and the nurses (and residents) still aren't convinced that breast
contact makes that much difference, or that human milk fortifier is that
harmful. So, sadly, we need to prove our arguments, since it's "our
problem".
