Hello All,
Thank you to those who responded to my post about baby Emma and NEC and
ABM. I was hoping, however, that someone would have an article we can
show to this neonatologist or something. The only article we can come
up with is from a 1990 issue of The Lancet. My own third son was an
unfortunate occupant of this same NICU two years ago, and I still feel
like I'm going to have post-traumatic-stress-disorder when I walk in
there. We had to be pretty nasty to keep them from using bottles, and
they absolutely refuse either to cup or finger-feed. I would not have
been able to stick up for my baby (combination of pain,
sleep-deprivation, hormones, and pain killers) without my husband, and
this mom's husband had to go back to work. I just don't think she has
it in her to threaten to sue these people. Again, I appeal to you all
for something she can use to convince the neonatologist to give this
baby breastmilk. Maryelle VonLanthen, are you out there?
Anne Easterday
