Recently saw a client with inflammatory bowel disease. She has been treated
with Asacol (mesalamine) with good relief of symptoms. Ped does not want
her to breastfeed due to her medications. Client took Asacol during
pregnancy, and does not wish to quit taking medication. She has cut down
her dosage to 1/2, which currently is controlling condition. Does anyone
know much about this medication?

Thanks!
