(This seems to be my week for simple ideas...)
Check positioning, making sure she is holding the baby carefully, that he is
opening wide to latch on, and that she continues to hold him closely and
securely during the nursing.
It seems like once the baby gets good at latching on and nursing, some moms get
lazy with how they hold the baby, and baby has to hold on for dear life.
Holding on with teeth is going to hurt worse than it did when he was just
gumming.

Also a good point for moms who have minor trouble with newborns after nursing a
previous child - for heaven's sake hold the baby securely so s/he doesn't feel
like s/he has to hold on for dear life (at 2 days or some such tender age).
