Well, I have to say that I expected a bigger out-cry from my fellow
Lactnetters regarding the Newsweek article. Did anyone else notice that
they said that "some babies are ready to wean at 5 months!"? My question
is "wean to what?" Do they think they should "wean" to a bottle of formula
or cow's milk? This is an absurd statement that is misleading to the
average person reading Newsweek. Now, if they mean "wean" in the sense
that some people mean wean as anything being added to the diet besides
breastmilk (including water, juice or vitamins), then that is a different
story. However, I sincerely doubt that is what they intended.
Thanks for the rant.
