As far as the inverted nipples - if the mother hasn't done anything
beforehand the shells seem to take too long to help - using a syringe or the
new product that was made especially for that - a syringe desired to put on
the nipple to help pull it out. Pumping will also usually help some -
having the mother pump for a few minutes before latching the baby on helps.
You can finger feed or cup feed the baby to avoid bottles - if the mother
has already used bottles before you see her occasionally a nipple shield
might be helpful - using it will help the nipple to come out some too - you
have to work to get the baby off of it soon - this can be a good choice if
the mother is about ready to quit like one I had recently - this helped give
her some confidence in the breastfeeding relationship and a glimmer of hope
- the baby was on her breast.
