How do you all deal with a client who is a royal pain in the umm, eh... neck?

I have one - a diplomat, no less, who is one of the most demanding, difficult
clients I've ever seen. She insists upon tape-recording our sessions, calls me
frequently for every tiny thing, complains about every aspect of living here...
Today, she called me to complain that the M. L. pump I rented her is not working the
same way it did for her in the States. Then she said the pump wasn't clean. That
REALLY got my goat because I am a fanatic when it comes to keeping the machines
clean. I insist that every mom buy a L. set if she doesn't already have one and I
personally clean each pump with alcohol after the renter has cleaned it at home
herself. Since I went out of my way to "serve" this mother - photocopying things
for her at no charge, making a housecall further from my home than I normally would,
spending copious amounts of time with her... I feel like a doormat. I have offered
her a refund on the pump if she's not satisfied. I don't want to be rude, but I've
had it with her and others that behave inconsiderately. That includes phone calls
at 10:30 p.m. or 7:30 a.m. - not emergencies or serious questions, but things that
could easily wait till business hours; clients not showing up for appointments
because it's too hot, too cold, too windy; not returning pumps on time...

O.K. all of you Ann Landers, give me some advice.

Sincerely,

Feeling Burned Lactation Consultant in Israel

P.S. Yes, this is the last post of the day. I promise.
