Hi to all on Lactnet,
I saw an answer to a question I missed on tandem nursing. I tandem nursed 1
and 2 as well and it was the only time I did not experience newborn nursing
soreness although I did notice my milk came in double what it did with the
others.
I recently did a poll on TLC which is the e-mail list for LLLLeaders. I
asked if moms noticed more/less jealousy between tandem nursing siblings. If
baby/older sib. got jealous while the other was nursing, and if you had other
children how did the relationship compare.
Responses: 19
Total #of children: 66
Total #of nursing sibs: 33 (Karen Z. I wasn't sure if I should count you 8 or
3x8!?!)
No jealousy: 11
Yes jealousy: 8
Conclusions:
As you can see from the numbers most of the families reporting yes or no had
children who ALL got along/fought regardless of whether they tandem nursed.
Only 3 reported that the baby/older sib was jealous/not jealous compared to
other sibs.
Of the 8 who reported jealousy 6 reported it being the baby. 2 said it was
the older one but felt that age/temperment had alot to do with it.
All the No's said they would/did do it again. 6 of the yes's said they'd do
it again if the older one did not wean by the birth. The other 2 did not
state.
I will disclaim that it's been almost 12 years since I took statistics and
that this is not a formal study - just a poll I did out of curiosity.
Hope this helps,
Mia
