The mom needs to learn hand expression.  Even though it is a little more
involved I would focus on the Marmet technique.
I am pretty sure that the equipment companies do have some sort of
"scholarship" program for women in real financial l  need.  Speack to a
representative of the company whose equipment you think would benefit the
mom and see what you can work out.
