In December I posted to request information about a 3 month old boy with a
Rhabdomyosarcoma tumor in his abdomen. I received wonderful support. Now
I'm back to ask more. The babe is home and breastfeeding, he turned 6
months old yesterday. This is the first contact I have had with the mom
since the previous post, which bums me out but I left it up to her to
decide whathelp she needed from me. The tumor is still there and liver,
kidney and GI function is compromised. The babe can't digest fat, doctors
say. He is on Progestermil(sp?) and breastmilk. She wants info about what
food he can have when she starts to introduce food, when should she
introduce food, what to be careful of. Her doctors say they haven't worked
with anyone this young and are unsure what she should feed her baby besides
the formula and Bmilk. So far, local LLL input is she can exclusively
breastfeed until one year without a problem for the babe. He is going to be
on chemotherapy for a minimum of the next year. I don't know the prognosis
for this babe but don't want the mom to introduce foods that could in
anyway make things worse. Any thoughts or resources would be greatly
appreciated. Im not receiveing the daily digests because nursing school is
pretty hectic right no. Please email me at home
