Just got a call from one of my best "successes" - teen mom, breastfeeding an 8
month old. Asking if she can use Retin-A for striae. I was unable to find
information on its safety in Dr. Hale's book and the Briggs states there are few
studies though there is probably little transfer into breast milk after topical
administration.
I did explain to her that I understood the studies related to its effectiveness
in reducing striae seemed to be greatest when used during pregnancy while they
are forming rather than after the fact - any views on this?
Please e-mail me directly as well as to the list as I'm way behind in Lactnet
reading thanks to a visit to Washington,DC (Thanks Ann Cajigas for a great tour
and some one-on-one LC peer counseling!).
