Kathleen, I'll ask for forgiveness ahead of time since this is off the topic
of lactation, but would someone please explain the origin of "Happy as a
clam?"  I've never seen a clam be happy -- or unhappy -- or frustrated, or
disgruntled or ecstatic or frightened (Unless they are going to be made into
chowder).  Of course, I'm not intimately acquainted with the emotional
disposition of clams.... perhaps someone from the Chesapeake Bay area could
respond?  And, how do we know if a baby is as happy as one?

Inquiring minds want to know...... (especially since I use it all the time),
