As yeast rears its ugly head yet again on Lactnet, I am reminded of
the usefulness of fluconazole, and the almost prohibitive cost in
some parts of the world (including Australia).
Ketoconazole is another option, but I have always been dubious about
using it because of the higher incidence of potential side effects.
What do others feel about this? Do benefits outweigh risks? should we
be monitoring liver function in mothers or babies if we do use it?
Should we throw caution to the wind and use it anyway?? Gentian
violet is another option, but doesn't seem to do much for the deep
breast pain. Any feedback?
