 Yes, there are alternatives to treating depression besides
pharmaceuticals, psychotherapy and religious counsel.  I firmly believe
that one big problem is a general lack of support for parenting in our
society, but that is another can of worms. There is a growing body of
literature on the treatment of depression with vitamins and herbs (I can
just hear all of you thinking "Here she goes again with the herbs.")  In
particular, B6, as well as B complex in general, has been successfully used
in randomized clinical trials to treat PMS, perimenopausal symptoms, ADHD,
and depressive disorders.  There are also herbs being tested by the Office
of Alternative Medicine.  Let me know if you want to hear more.
