I find it hard to imagine what the hospital *will* accept as proof that it is ok for the mom to get MMR vaccine, if they won't accept CDC guidelines, but since all the hospital cares about is that she get it, why doesn't she get it from her own doctor, her baby's doctor (they could get their shots together) or the health department? The HD can almost certainly be pressed to accept CDC rules, if in fact they resist at all. In my own experience, the HD immunization clinic nurses cite all sorts of silly non-existent rules (ie. "you can't have a PPD while you are being treated for a cough" - DUH! When would you be more likely to *need* a PPD [TB test]?), but once you go above them to the medical director or the state level, those "rules" dissolve away. At least, it's so in Michigan, where we are struggling to overcome the stigma of have the US' rock-bottom poorest immunization coverage rates!
