Leslie, I laughed at the cartoon but, like you, had sudden onset of regrets
over it. First, it seemed strange that the mother was asking the father when
she could wean the baby (in my practice it is always vice versa); and --
most pediatricians I know DO have breasts! The cartoon found an audience. A
friend of mine, a female pediatrician, saw the cartoon and remarked "That is
exactly how I felt! I couldn't wait to wean."
That isn't much of a laugh maker, is it?
I suppose we can hope that the information about nursing for at least a year
somehow penetrated the public consciousness despite the vehicle?
