Re : Mycostatin
The dose and method of administration (1 cc in each side of mouth) is correct.
Infant dose = 200,000 units four times daily. Place 1 cc in each side of
mouth. 1 cc = 100,000 units.
I recently heard Kay Hoover give a lecture and she had a rather novel way of
using mycostatin, place the 2 ccs in a small cup, use a qtip and swab the
babys' mouth repeatedly and if any is left, pour in mouth.
This accomplishes the important task of keeping the mouth bathed with nystatin
for an extended amount of time to facilitate treatment of all surfaces.
Nausea and vomiting generally only occurs with larger doses.
