A high prolactin count can cause breast pain. I have a pituitary
microadenoma, and it gave me breast pain during bf, it felt like chronic
plugged ducts, achey, stabbing pain. I am not bf now, am on bromocriptine,
and when it brings down the prolactin count, pain subsides. When the
prolactin is on the rise, the pain is there. My breasts are a kind of meter,
lets me know when the prolactin is on the rise. I will assume from my
personal experience that perhaps some women may have breast pain because
normally or abnormally prolactin levels are high. Now that would make for an
interesting study, wouldn't it? I agree with the advice to have massage
therapy done.
