RE: my mom with asthma and the Promethizine her Dr wanted her to take:

GAve her all the info gathered here and in private e-mails (thanks!) and she
has decided that her Dr is trying to give her meds that are not helpful for
her particular situation.  She has also decided to NOT take the
Promethezine/wCodein as she does not cough at night like the Dr thinks she
does (and she feels that he is trying to just "make her/himself happy" by
prescribing "something"), and she has insisted on seeing a Pulmonary
Specialist (as her reg GP has only seen her twice in the last year, tho she
has asked to see him on a regular q2mo basis because of her asthma.  Because
of his lack of attention and proper following, she had ended up ODing on meds
a year ago because no one knew her history and kept prescribing this and that
until she landed in the hosp.  Now she is fighting for what she needs)
Anyway, she asked me to thank all of you for your info, as it helped her to
make an informed decision that she is comfortable with.  We will see what the
pulmonary Dr says!

fever is gone, but this congestion and cough really suck)
