My psychologist (I am working hard to avoid clinical burn-out, these
days), when she learned that Felix, then 30 months, was still bf: "It may
be OK for physical health, but it is harming him socially! We are not in
a developing country and he is going to get laughted at !"
She quieted down when I told her that this was MY time to relax, and that
I would just keep on working, working, working if I did not take this
time. Besides, I told her, the day care worker taking care of him comes
from a developing country and was sooooo pleased when she saw me nurse
him, because it reminded her of home and nonsensical ways of raising
children.
She now treat it as "taboo", and does not dare telling me that it is
wearing me down. She does say that weaning will come soon though
naturally, and I have to believe her: he now drinks for seconds at a
time, now :( , then says "finish, thank you". But he still comes, even
for a few seconds.
