Have an SOS for the herbalists out there.

A friend who is 20 weeks pregnant called me this evening wanting to know
when/if it would be safe for her to take echinacea for head cold during
pregnancy. When she bought some at the health food store they told her she
shouldn't take it during the first trimester. She had a miscarriage a couple
years ago and dosen't want to take any risks. She is just beginning to 'get
into' herbs, homeopathics, etc.

Also, is there one or two fairly comprehensive texts on using
herbs/homeopathics during pregnancy & lactation? Source, please!

TIA! You may email me privately if you'd like.
