Are there problems with taking acyclovir or valtrex and breastfeeding? We
have a mom who has had an extremely difficult first pregnancy (had to quit
grad school for the semester because of constant nausea/vomiting) She is
having a herpes outbreak now and feels miserable. She wants to
breastfeed, but she also wants to resume her suppressive medicine and she
does not want to postpone taking her meds in order to breastfeed. She
feels that she will be no good to the baby in her current
physical/emotional state if she continues to have outbreaks.
