Thank you for all your responses.  I had hoped to respond individually as
well but my computer crashed.  Luckily I had 99% of the posts on hard copy.
Is there anyone on line from Florida's Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies.  I
came across a wonderful outline "Promoting Breastfeeding in Your Community."
I would like to obtain permission to edit and reproduce it.

The following is a compilation of ideas.  Feel free to comment on, add to or
implement this list!
Places to be reputed for breastfeeding support
Sweden
Kenya
Orangeville, Ontario
San Luis Obispo, Ca.
Seattle area, Washington

Community components (I've added in parentheses what I know to be available)

1. K-12 health education including breastfeeding (available: "Breastfeeding
First Step to Good Health;  A Breastfeeding Education Activity Package for
Grades K-12;  NYS Dept of Health Bureau of Child and Adolescent Health
Corning Tower, Empire State Plaza Albany, New York 12237-0618)

2. Health clinics with a breastfeeding component preferably with a baby
friendly designation (available: Evergreen Hospital Kirkland, Washington;
Community Breastfeeding Centre Orangeville, Ontario; County Hospital San Luis
Obispo, California

3. Public areas (parks, shopping malls, stores, etc.) encourage and
accommodate breastfeeding mothers;  A yearly well-publicized award to a baby
friendly store.

4. Affordable and accessible breastfeeding clothes; A young designer award
given each year.

5. Teamwork.

6. Support for women to stay at home the first 2 years.  Support for women
returning back to work who wish to continue breastfeeding

7. Legislation supporting and protecting breastfeeding with the additional
help of Governors whose daughters have been breastfeeding mothers in the work
place.

8.  Community Breastfeeding Coalitions  (Manual available Community Based
Coalition Building for Breastfeeding Promotion through the Iowa Department of
Health Contact Holly Szcodronski RD, LD Lucas State Office Building, 3rd
Floor 321 East 12th Street Des Moines, Iowa 50319-0075).

9. Education and re-education for professionals and families pre and
postnatally.

10. Visual and auditory reinforcement of breastfeeding as the cultural norm.
