Jack writes about the Canadian government's silence on the issue of
breastfeeding: >Is this a conspiracy of silence, or am I paranoid again. I
think
>everyone is just afraid of the formula companies.
I don't think it's fear of formula companies, I think it's just a profound
absence of any kind of consciousness that breastfeeding is something to
consider when looking at any number of issues. We have a lot of work ahead
of us to lobby and make breastfeeding move into the consciousness of
bureaucrats and politicians.
I'm the coordinator of a prenatal nutrition program funded by Health Canada.
Breastfeeding is an important component of this program, which is totally
thrilling for me. Usually it's just ME beating the drum, in this program the
topic comes up lots and I'M not the one bringing it up.
