Dear Bonnie and list:
I must admit, even though we've spent the last 19+ yrs living in the
country, both in FL and OR, it never occured to me that the fresh air that
is so vital to other aspects of our health might also have contributed to
the fact that our daughter never had an ear infection. Makes sense to me -
lots of sense!
My personal pet theory was that I was never a fanatic about giving her a
daily - or even every-other-day bath -...........our family doc who cared
for her after birth said he felt "babies don't really need many baths until
they start helping their dads work on cars" (he collected old Ford
Falcons)........don't get me wrong....she WAS kept clean! But it often
seemed to me through the years that moms who couldn't really put their
fingers on other causes for recurrent ear infections might just be
over-doing the bathing routine with one or more baths a day, whether or not
the baby really needed them.
