Thank you to all those who responded to my breastfeeding and exercise question. You gave me a lot of insights for the right questions to ask and suggestions to give to mom.
This mother quit exercising for a couple of days and nursed her baby frequently. Her supply returned quickly and the baby is much happier(So is mom). She is now trying to gradually work up to an exercise regimen. She has also increased fluid intake. Thanks again.
In response to the question about how long to wait before catheterization:
A neat, less invasive trick is to place a couple drops of Peppermint Oil into a speci hat in the toilet before the patient sits down. It sometimes causes the bladder to spasm and empty. It does not work real well if mom's bladder is too full, but it might save her from subsequent catheterizations.
After I had my gallbladder out, I was catheterized twice before I remembered this method. It really does work(and is not as uncomfortable as a catheter)!
