I have been lurking for several weeks, am back in Tel-Aviv till
mid-January. I tried to send this 2 days ago but my machine did not
cooperate- so much for my timely Thanksgiving thoughts.

Anna in the U.K.- am really enjoying your posts and glad you are on the
LACTNET with us. A few questions- just what EXACTLY is the RATBAG in your
address and PLEASE give us some turnpike information.

Janna- I appreciated you list of herpes rememdies- as a sufferer for almost
30 years on various parts of my body there were a few new remedies for me. I
am amazed at the comments about vaginal herpes and BFing. Were the medical
professionals so freaked when the babies were being born? HELLLO that is the
time to worry. Another piece of info to add to our list of things docs don't
learn in med school or after.

Overdue update of an almost dead issue- while in NY I managed to get hold of
someone who is a bit further up on the evolutionary ladder than the human
who sent all of us the form letter about Jane Seymour. The chap I spoke with
was very nice, etc. both by phone and email. These are media people who know
zip about breastfeeding as well as its part in the overall UNICEF picture.
They were told to find a celebrity. After trying to find other females who
were mothers without success they got our favorite doctora of the fronteir.
I personally don't think they looked too hard.

In any case, this fellow also saw the photo in in 11/96 Maire Claire
magaizine in which our Jane was standing next to her Mercedes with her hand
casually off to the side stuffing a bottle into the mouth of one of her
twins and looking straight at the camera. To his distress this fellow found
out that the Mercedes people haven't been so nice either during the last
sixty years.

Bottom line- there are other things besides BFing in the UNICEF gestalt and
they will channel her to other things as much as possible. Will not give you
any more of the dialogue since this guy did not know his a-- (that upon
which we sit) from his elbow about BFing. He was, however, courteous and
respectful.

Somehow can't picture Jane in Rwanda.

I was also gifted with one of the wonderful form letters from Rodale Press
and hope those of you in the U.S. can make some noise about it. Another
instances of breastfeeding not being the norm.

To all of you going to the WABA meeting- looking forward to reading your
reports.
